Our workshops combine excellent instruction with a class size limited to 12 in order to ensure the best opportunities for learning and collaborating. Classes and workshops are taught by highly qualified professionals who provide hands-on training for students of all skill levels. We’re proud to offer our students the opportunity to learn from award-winning filmmakers and successful working artists in the field. 

The classroom workspace is situated adjacent to the photo studio, providing a seamless transition between classroom and laboratory. It’s an exciting space where you’ll learn and experiment while your instructor answers questions and demonstrates techniques. Whether you’re looking for a weekly class or just a weekend workshop, we’ve got you covered. Course offerings will vary throughout the year.


Comprehensive Digital Filmmaking / March 8 – May 10, 2017

Our basic production course is designed to cover key concepts and practices for making a film or video project. Topics include a thorough introduction to the professional DV camera, important aspects of lighting, sound, shot composition, camera movement, visual storytelling devices, working as a filmmaking crew, and editing. In-class demonstrations and exercises will allow students to work collaboratively on group projects as a digital cinema team. This course runs 10 weeks, one night a week.

Screenwriting / April 3 – May 8, 2017

Want to translate your idea into a feature film? This course covers the fundamentals of writing a feature-length screenplay and is designed for beginning students and writers. Through screenings, outside readings, discussion, and critiques, students will engage with such issues as character development, dialogue, structure, narrative progression, and what to do with a finished screenplay. Students should use this course as a springboard towards generating the first draft of a feature-length screenplay. This course runs 6 weeks, one night a week.

Product Photography / April 8 & 9, 2017

Have you ever needed simple, professional quality photographs of an object or item to sell online, such as on eBay or Etsy? Perhaps you make jewelry or small sculptures and need a professional photograph to represent your work to the public? This class will give you the basic skills to make your products look their best. 2 classes, 3 hours each

What you will get: 

• A basic understanding of resolution, compression, and print size for proper representation of products.

• An explanation of various types of studio and lighting equipment.

• A basic understanding of composition and backgrounds used in product photography.

This is a 2-day, weekend class.

Photographing Artwork / April 22, 2017

This class will teach you how to photograph artwork such as paintings and sculptures in order to obtain the best possible digital images for websites, blogs and prints. Often artists create beautiful art but don’t know how to present it for websites, catalogs or gallery previews. One day workshop.

Moviemaking Summer Camp for Youth / Summer 2017 TBD

FOR YOUTH AGES 10-13 // This comprehensive, 2-week camp will cover all aspects of digital video production, from initial concept to finished movie. Students will learn about pre-production planning, storyboarding, cameras, lighting, sound, shot composition, and computer editing, and will work collaboratively on group projects.
